- Daily symptom checks are required for anyone coming to campus or living in on-campus housing. More information on the campus’ symptom monitoring protocol is available online for staff and faculty performing non-healthcare work on campus (PDF) and for students (PDF).
FACULTY AND STAFF: If you are not feeling well, have developed flu-like symptoms (fever, cough, difficulty breathing), or believe you may have come into contact with a person diagnosed with COVID-19, please contact your primary care physician to see their advice. If you have tested positive for COVID-19, please contact UCLA Occupational Health Servicesand/or your supervisor.

On June 30, 2020 staff who have been able to work from home successfully were asked to continue to do so until January 4, 2021.
WACD staff will continue performing the vital functions of the department from our homes. We have prepared for this. You will be receiving communications about teaching your courses, taking your courses and all other departmental functions. If you have any doubts or concerns at all, please do contact us.

FACULTY OFFICE USE:
- Everyone who enters a building should assume that all surfaces they touch are a potential source of virus contact, including doors, door handles, elevator buttons, furniture, equipment, etc.
- DO NOT TOUCH YOUR FACE AT ANY TIME DURING YOUR VISIT.
- As soon as you have completed your visit and are ready to leave, please go straight to the nearest restroom and wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water before exiting the building.
- You are encouraged to bring hand sanitizer with you and use it as soon as you exit the building, just to be safe.
Faculty Research Grant Recipients whose research has been impacted by COVID-19:
The Council on Research (COR) has agreed to allow a one-time exception to its no extension policy on 2019-2020 research grants, given the disruption to research-related travel and activities. The extension is only for 2019-2020 grants, for up to a year, until June 30, 2021.

UC Retirement Process
Undergraduate Council has passed a resolution that suspends the normal limit of 1 P/NP per quarter for undergraduates in good standing. It is possible that the Graduate Council will pass a similar resolution concerning S/U classes.
What this means is that it will be possible for students who choose to do so to take only P/NP courses in Spring quarter.
- This is not a directive to offer all classes P/NP. Nor is it a directive to change courses that now are only offered for a Letter grade to also be offered P/NP.
- This does not alter either college or departmental requirements that some classes have to be taken for a letter grade (this is most often concerning what can be counted towards credits for the major).
- Please urge students to be very careful in making sure that they fulfill departmental requirements when this is announced later this week.
- Because of the complexities of the registrar’s system, the option to register for multiple P/NP will not be available at the start of the quarter. Instead it will be possible for students to make this change later in the quarter when the system is set up. What this means is that students do not have to do anything before next week. The only thing that they do need to do if they care is to make sure that the classes they are taking already allow for the P/NP option.
- Undergraduate Council has also called for the deadline to change from a letter to P/NP grade without petition to be moved back to the end of the 10th week. It has also been requested that the fee for changing be waived for this quarter.
