Ph.D. in Culture and Performance
Barry Brannum is a dancer, choreographer, and MA/PhD student in UCLA’s World Arts & Cultures / Dance department. He graduated from Princeton University in 2013 with an AB in English and a Certificate in Dance. Both artistically and academically, his work investigates representations of African-American respectability politics in the realm straddling popular culture and concert dance. He has most recently worked with Laurel Tentindo, Alison D'Amato, Lionel Popkin, alexx makes dances (Alexx Shilling), and Kevin Williamson. When he's not dancing or studying, Barry is probably baking or communing with the Internet.
