
The Asia Pacific Performance Exchange (APPEX) Fellowship Residency Program 2010 is a three‐week intensive residency in Bali, Indonesia. For five days a week, traditional and contemporary performing artists will engage in master classes, studio workshops, experimentation, collaborative projects and public performances. Participants will also be introduced to the vibrant arts and culture of Bali through field trips and concerts. For the fourth time, the internationally acclaimed Çudamani gamelan music and dance ensemble will invites you to participate in the study of Balinese music and dance in Bali, Indonesia. The Summer Institute is an intensive study with 6 master artists and a team of 12 assisting teachers using pedagogy developed collaboratively by Ibu Ni Ketut Alit Arini, Bapak I Nyoman Cerita and Çudamani ; lectures and demonstrations by renowned scholars and artists; observation of rehearsals, 'backstage' preparation and performances; and visits to sacred sites and ceremonies. Participants engage with Pengosekan's community of artists, well knows as weavers, painters, dancers and musicians.
Çudamani will also offer elective courses on the art of making masks, bamboo instruments and offerings. Balinese cultural programs available for non-performers.
